Changsha-Job Fair for China Southern Airlines-2011

As I approached the Starbucks across from my hotel, there was a very long line of smartly dressed girls in front of the shopping center. Turns out that they were applying for a flight attendant's job with China Southern Airlines. Basic requirements included being single, 18-24 years old, 5'4" - 5'9" with proportionate weight and a college degree. Groups of 10 girls marched out in front of the interview panel of 3 women and 4 men, in the middle of the shopping center for all to see. This was a preliminary screening. If they made it past this cut, there would be a written exam, another interview and then on to a national televised contest. A total of 675 girls applied. Many such job fairs are held throughout China.
