Hawaii Fishing and Seafood Festival 2011

This year's festival seem to have a lot more people and more or less the same vendors and events. But its always nice to see the fish cutting demonstration and all the fresh fish in the cool air conditioned fish auction site.
There was actually a line of people waiting to get in.  The lights were kind of strange. Not really flourescent. Should have set the WB on Auto.

Gold Dust Day Gecko at KCC

Thanks to Stephanie T. who first posted a pic on FB and Stanley Y. who invited me to shoot with their group.

From Wikipedia: This lizard belongs to the smaller day geckos, and can reach a total length of about 6-9 inches. The body colour is a bright green or yellowish green or rarely even blue. Typical for this day gecko are the yellow speckles on the neck and the upper back. There are three rust-coloured transverse bars on the snout and head; the upper part of the skin around the eye is blue. On the lower back there are three tapering red bars. The tail is slightly flattened. The under side is off-white.
The Gold dust day gecko inhabits the northern part of Madagascar. It can also be found on the island of Nosy Bé, the Comoros and Réunion island. According to McKeown [2], this species has also been introduced to the Seychelles, and onto the Hawaiian Islands, where it is established on both sides of O'ahu, the Kona side of the Big Island, and onMaui. It has also been spotted on Kauai and the eastern tip of the Big Island.

All Girl Rodeo at the Kualoa Ranch Ohana Country Fair

Kualoa Ranch held their 2nd annual Ohana (family) Country Fair with keiki (children) games, crafts, food (shave ice booth ran out of ice for about an hour...unbelievable!), music, movie tours (many movies like Jurassic Park, were filmed on the ranch) and an All Girl Rodeo. The girls from young (maybe 7-10) to older (66 years old for Auntie Betty) did a fantastic job of riding. The young girls were riding full size horses, not your backyard ponies.  I shot at ISO 200, manual and if not noted it was at f/11, 1/250
