EOH Workshop-More of Marina

There were close to 20 member photographers at the workshop conducted by professional photographer Guy Nakanishi. He set up three stations with three models, giving each of us a chance to shoot models in urban street clothes, hula and swim wear. The models were all very patient and tried to accommodate all the photogs by trying to make eye contact with as many as humanly possible. They kept smiling the entire hour! I think it helped that we fed them well before the shoot...hehe.  Guy was very helpful in offering tips on not only camera skills but also people skills, like giving positive reinforcement to the models. Model Marina has a very versatile look. I decided to challenge that by editing her pics in a variety of styles. What can I say, she looks awesome in all of them. Don't you agree?

EOH Photo Club Workshop with Guy Nakanishi Photography

The Eyes of Hawaii Photography Club sponsored a workshop with photographer Guy Nakanishi on model photography. He graciously provided 3 models dressed in street, hula and swim wear. They braved the hot sun and humid weather while Guy went over various poses, lighting, suggested lens, camera settings and many other pointers. Models, if I misspelled your name, please let me know.

China 2012-Beijing and Xi'an

Short trip to Beijing and Xi'an. It was the first time for my family and they were impressed. Did the Great Wall at Mutianyu, Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Summer Palace, Insect Street Night market, bargaining for knockoffs at the Silk Market and riding in a death defying taxi...and that was just in Beijing. In Xi'an, its the Terra Cotta Warriors, Big Wild Goose Pagoda, a few museums, a foot massage, The Song Dynasty Show and 21 dishes of dumplings, shopping in a supermarket (much different than here) and another death defying taxi ride.

Grace

Grace is a makeup artist extraordinaire along with her friend Lani. They were organizing and doing makeup at a previous photo shoot and volunteered to jump in as models. As you can see, they looked outstanding!

More Kawaii Kon 2012

I still had a few more of Kawaii Kon 2012 pics that I found time to edit and post. Tried different strategies to get some great shots like hanging at the bottom of the escalator. During the slow periods I would walk towards the area by the canal and then go upstairs to see what was going on and circle back down the escalator to wait for the next group to come by. Kind of funny to see all the photographers suddenly appear out of nowhere whenever an awesome dressed character stopped to pose for pics.

Ala Moana Spring Shop a Lea Fashion Show

Ala Moana Center held its Shop a Lea Spring Fashion show at the center stage. It actually consisted of mini shows on the hour every hour on Saturday. I missed Sunday's show since I was on a plane to Beijing. Outfits were stunning. Loved the colors.

Returned from a short and sweet trip to Beijing and Xi'an. Weather was clear and cool. Here's a few teaser pics.
