Lion Dance Journey at Foster Botanical Garden

Met up with friends of the Eyes of Hawaii at Foster Garden to see lion dances from 7 different countries. A sign at the entrance said "No photography and no video" AUWE! After some discussion some members left and a few of us stayed. Luckily for us, management had a change of heart and allowed everyone to take pictures.

Miss Chinatown Hawaii Scholarship Pageant 2012

Five girls competed for two crowns. Nicole Leong is Miss Chinatown Hawaii and will go on to compete in the Miss Hawaii Pageant. Tina Ng is Miss Hawaii Chinese and will compete in the Miss Chinatown USA in San Francisco.

Gary's Night Blooming Cereus-Fushia Pink

My friend brought his night blooming cereus to work and told us about the beautiful fuschia pink flowers it produced. Its related to the cactus looking plant that grows on the walls around Punahou School, which produces a white flower. For the first few mornings, all I saw was shriveled remnants of a pink flower. Finally this morning the bright fuschia pink flower proudly spread its petals and stayed open long enough for a photo shoot.

Honolulu Broadway Babies

Honolulu Broadway Babies is a non profit group that performs benefit concerts in the hopes of bringing awareness and help to the mentally challenged. They recently performed at the Ala Moana Center Stage to advertise their upcoming concert at LCC.
